We are very pleased that your child has chosen to participate in the Grand Traverse Area Club Volleyball Program. We will do all we can to provide a positive experience for your child. Possibly the most important ingredient to achieve this outcome is to ensure that lines of communication are developed to allow for free and easy resolution of questions before they become conflicts. As a parent, you have the right to know what expectations are placed on your child. The following is intended to spell out all levels of communication so that parents, coaches and players are aware of the steps they have available to resolve anything they think is or might become an issue.

 

 

 

·                    Philosophy of the coach.

·                    Expectations the coach has for your child as well as all of the players on the team.

·                    Location and times of all practices and tournaments.

·                    Team requirements, i.e., fees, special equipment, travel expenses.

·                    Discipline that results in the denial of your child’s participation.

 

 

 

·                    Concerns expressed directly to the coach as outlined below (see Appropriate Concerns).

·                    Notification of any schedule conflicts well in advance.

·                    Specific concern regarding expectations related to your child’s participation.

 

 

·                    The treatment of your child mentally and physically.

·                    Ways to help your child improve.

·                    Concerns about your child’s behavior.

·                    Team Strategy

·                    Play Calling

1.                  Call to set up an appointment with Coach.

2.                  Please do not attempt to confront a coach before, during or after a match or practice. These can be emotional times for both the parent and the coach. Meetings of this nature usually do not promote resolution.
